June Minutes

In June, Su Fennern welcomed us to her spacious yard. It was nice to see Guild members in person! Some of the ladies brought knitted and crocheted items for donation. The collection resulted in:

  • 31 hats
  • 5 scarfs
  • 2 hat and mittens sets
  • 1 pair of mittens
some of the items gathered at the meeting

Thank you very much to all who contributed. If you have items you’d like to donate, please let one of the Board Members know or email us and we’ll arrange how to get them.

Our visiting vendors – Leann Bleakney of Silver Falls Fiber Company and Tonie Young of Butterfly Fiber & Yarn – sent a thank you note to Su. You all made a great impression on them!

“Hi Su,
Thank you for having Leann and I yesterday, it was nice to get out and see people! Plus they seemed to like our yarn 🙂
I had a great day and was surprised at how much I sold, it gave me a confidence boost that I needed. You have a wonderful group of ladies, they were all nice and I really enjoyed speaking with so many of them. Anytime you want us back we’ll be there!

July Minutes

In July, some of the group took a trip to the Alpacas at Marquam Hill Ranch in Molalla.

I heard that it was a great time, and some of the attendees gave us permission to share the following photos with you. Lovely ladies with adorable alpacas!

Upcoming Events

August Meeting – In Person!

We will be meeting at Willamette Valley Heritage Center (still Mission Mill to some of us) on August 14 from 10 to noon. The address is 1313 Mill St SE in Salem. We will gather on the front porch for announcements and whatnot, then people can spread around the grounds to knit. There are tables on the grounds that we are welcome to use, and we can visit Teaselwick Wool, too. Although there is a restaurant on the premises, the most recent information we have is that it will not be open until 4 pm, so you may want to bring your own food and drink. At the very least, you’ll probably want water – it’s supposed to be hot out.

Future SMKG Meetings

We’ll be meeting back in the clubhouse at Terrace Lake at 2120 Robins Lane SE in Salem. Looking forward to seeing you there starting on September 11, 2021.

Knitting Retreats

Knitting retreats at Alton Collins Retreat Center are starting up if anyone is interested. Dates are October 8-10 and February 18-20. Interested parties can contact Kimberly Wood-Soldana at

Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival in October

The Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival is scheduled for the weekend of October 23-24, 2021 at the Linn County Expo Center.

Do keep in mind that holding OFFF is still tentative, as the safety of our visitors and vendors is our highest priority. We will ultimately be heeding the guidance of the CDC and the State of Oregon as to whether or not we can hold this event.
