We did get an overhead projector and speakers for the Guild. The cost was $314.00. We took up a collection at the meeting and raised $160.00, if anyone who was not at the meeting would like to pitch in $5.00 or any donation you can bring it to the next meeting or add it into your membership check.
Membership dues should be paid by next meeting if at all possible.
We voted in next year’s board members – Shirley Albright as President, Kelli Bold as Vice President, Sue Munson as Treasurer and Donna Reed as Secretary.
This month’s meeting we had to use the front part of the community center because they were shampooing the carpet in our other room. We were a little cozy but it still worked out well. Sandy, who also lives at Arrowhead Mobile Park, joined our guild. We are very glad to have her because we need a resident to be able to use the facility. Now when Karen is on vacation, we have a second resident to help us not have to move our meeting elsewhere.
This month we talked about blocking. We took a shawl and soaked it, rolled in a towel to get excess water out and then used blocking pins and mats to show how to block. Terry had also brought in a shawl that she blocked using blocking wires just before the meeting started. We had a hand out of information I had gathered on the web that talks about blocking and how to block different fibers. I have attached that document for anyone that was not at the meeting.
Link for the blocking wires from Wallmart.com http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_query=blockingwires&ic=16_0&Find=Find&indexId=13b30ea4165c&cdnHost=search-cdn.walmart.com&searchdropdowndiv=com.wm.module.305715.constraint&search_constraint=0 The set I have is now only $14.97 and the set that has more of both the rigid wires and the bendable wires for doing circular items is $24.61.
We also had a good discussion on all the web sites everyone uses for knitting — buying supplies, learning how to do techniques and where to get patterns.
The rubber mats for blocking can be found in toy area at Walmart, Walgreens, Toys R Us and larger size ones from Lowes or Home Depot.
Next month, December is our Holiday pot luck. Please bring a dish to pass and also your own place setting (plate, cup, silverware) This will cut down on the amount of trash that we will create. There is a kitchen so we can use the microwave and fridge and also a sink to rinse dishes before taking home.
December’s meeting is on the 8th at10:00am
Hope you all had a great turkey day!
