October Meeting Highlights

The October meeting got off to a slow start with both the President and Secretary being home sick (thanks to Su Fennern for taking photos). Past President Janet Bubl stepped in at the last minute to lead the meeting.

Su showed the mini sweater for the month, the Long Sleeved Baby (Surprise) Jacket. Adapted from a pattern by Elizabeth Zimmerman, it was designed to be a quick and clever baby sweater. She eventually adapted the pattern to be knit in sizes from infant to adult.

Baby Surprise Jacket is featured in several books by Elizabeth Zimmerman. It was suggested to check your local library for:
Knitting Workshop
Knit One Knit All
The Opinionated Knitter
Knitter’s Magazine
Fall 2000

Program

Kathy Goebel and Heather Sly-Haley worked up leaf patterns to knit for Fall and Winter. Most of those present took advantage of knitting together to create some lovely leaves.

Mini Sweater ‘Trunk Show’

Both November and December mini sweaters will be shown this month as next month they will be the highlight of a Mini Sweater Trunk Show! If you have a mini “trunk” you can bring to use, that would be great. Here’s an example:

November Meeting

This is our annual election cycle and we will be electing a President by ballot. All members present may vote.

November Program

Several members are bringing patterns for simple holiday decorations to knit. Members can sit and knit on their own projects or try a couple of these new ones. Please bring some extra yarn and corresponding needles for a wreath, candy cane, or snowflake, for example.

Magic at the Mill

Sign-ups will be available to work evening shifts December 19 – 23 (5:30 – 8 PM) for this magical Salem event. Details will be available at the November and December meetings. Thanks to Debbie Juul for coordinating this for us.

Dues Reminder

Annual dues ($30) for 2024 can be brought in cash or check to the December meeting. Visitors can attend two meetings before paying dues.
